Work: I am a bioinformatician and statistician. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field combining computer science, computational biology, and data science. I recently received my PhD in Biosciences at George Mason University, studying the omics of Age-Related Macular Degeneration. I also have a Master’s of Science in plant biology. I specialize in genetics and sequencing data analysis. To discuss science you can email me at claire dot weber at nih dot gov.
Art: I have been making digital art since the days of Adobe Photoshop 6.0 (2001!) and the Apple Mac G4 Cube, using original photography and digital painting techniques. Originally I studied fine art in school and created mixed media watercolor with charcoal paintings. I now translate these skills into digital form. I am interested in abstract, semi-abstract art, bold contrasts in color and texture, and natural elements versus synthetic glitch imagery. Since the advent of AI tools, I also incorporate Stable Diffusion into my pieces but the focus is still “old-school” handmade digital media. I currently work on a Razer blade laptop with an RTX 3070 GPU and 16 GB RAM. My cameras are a Canon EOS R6 with prime autofocus and manual lenses; and a Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra. The software I use includes Photoshop and for AI inpainting, Fooocus.
